Precautionary Steps to be taken before Changing a Flat Tire

The first precautionary step would be to ensure that you have moved your vehicle away from the road and are parked in a location that will not obstruct the road. Turn on your hazard lights and pop your hood to indicate repair work being carried out so that other drivers know to give you some room.

Next, check whether you have a spare tire and tools like a wrench, a jack, and WD-40 solvent. Also, browse through your owner’s manual to ensure that you follow the proper steps and identify the correct location for placing the jack.

Steps to Change a Flat Tire

To change the flat tire, remove the hubcap or wheel cover and then spray the WD-40 solvent to loosen the lug nuts. Place the jack in the point identified in the owner’s manual and raise the vehicle. Then use the wrench to remove the nuts and replace the flat tire with the spare tire.

Screw on the lug nuts with your hands and lower the jack slowly until the wheel touches the ground level. Use the wrench to tighten the nuts in a diagonal pattern, wipe off the excess WD-40 solvent, and replace the hubcap or the wheel cover.

Replace the tools and the flat tire in the space under the luggage compartment and check if the tire has sufficient air pressure.
