How do I wirelessly connect to Apple CarPlay®/Android Auto™ in a Kia vehicle? 

The ability to connect a compatible smartphone to the Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ suites of applications has been a game-changer in terms of connectivity. However, the first generation of this technology required people to plug their phones into the infotainment system. Thankfully, the state of the art has continued to improve, and for several 2021 models, those messy and prone-to-become-tangled wires are no longer needed. Wireless Smartphone Connectivity 

If you wish to connect your phone to your Kia vehicle’s infotainment system without wires, be sure to consult the owner’s manual to make sure it is equipped with this feature. You will also want to make sure that your phone is running a compatible version of either operating system’s software. However, most Apple iOS and Android phones will work just fine. In order to complete the wireless connection, follow these steps:  

  • Turn on both the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities for the phone in question.
  • Select ‘Setup’ on the vehicle’s infotainment system screen.
  • Press the button for ‘Device Connection Settings, then ‘Phone Projection.’
  • Select ‘Add New.’

On Your Smartphone 

Open your smartphone’s Bluetooth settings and select your vehicle. 
Accept the download prompt that appears, as well as the following permission prompts. 

From here you will a box pop up on the infotainment screen asking you to select ‘Use Apple CarPlay’ or ‘Use Android Auto,’ choose the option that matches your phone.  

What if my phone won’t connect wirelessly? 

If for some reason your smartphone won’t connect wirelessly, you can still access both the Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™ suites of applications by using a USB cord.
